Enjoy the weekend and Happy Father’s Day on Sunday to all the Dads! Next week I’ll post about something my Dad sent me today.
This video makes reference to “Honor your father and mother” – which I do think is a good idea, when done appropriately (ok, so I’m reaching a little ;))

1This is an odd one! This group’s website, http://www.jollyvillepictures.com/main.html, describes their work this way: “We make short, usually dark, sometimes confusing comedies that have played in various festivals.” Confusing, yes, that explains why I wasn’t sure at first how much was tongue in cheek.
Check out this video by the same group…

2I assumed the one I posted is tongue-in-cheek, Eliza.
I think the one you posted is too. I think it’s parodying how one of the most deceptive things people do, is to start with something that’s actually true, and misapply it in a distorted way. Because people, affirming that the original concept is true, may miss the wrong application and distortion that turns it into something untrue.
Partway through the video the young man applies what the ‘youth leader’ is saying in an appropriate way to say that definitions could help people in Guantanamo Bay (sp?) know what was and wasn’t torture. The youth leader says something like ‘SHUT UP!”
This is because he’s playing with definitions in order to confuse and control them, not to educate/enlighten them.
That’s what I think anyway.
Showing that the youth leader didn’t want what he was saying to be correctly applied. He was trying to use a true concept in a distorted way that would to trick and deceive people.
And so I think this is a parody about how people
