An online friend of mine made this video tribute to those who helped rebuild after Hurricane Katrina.
His own community was seriously damaged by Hurricane Katrina. I read on IIDB how some out-of-town IIDB participants visited him to help with rebuilding.
He has written about his personal experience during and after the hurricane here: A Humanist in a Hurricane
Quoting from there, this was his focus after the hurricane:
It didn’t take long for me to realize that the only way to bring hope from such carnage would be to follow the Humanist ideals I had studied, accepted, and lived prior to this devastating storm. With others I would participate in bringing comfort, protection, and care right here and right now to those living in need.
I’ll be back next week with more blog entries…have a good weekend, everyone!

Thanks for posting this. Schlict’s article is very interesting, and helps explain some questions I had – including why atheists and humanists are specifically mentioned at the end of the video.
Hard to believe that hurricane season has started again… :(

2You’re welcome!
Yes indeed.
I agree – I hope it’s not as bad this year.
