That was fabulous. Right now I can’t think of a better motivator for any girl scout who has an inkling of a dream to run this country. She’d know right now that she has a head start over these baffoons.
God help us.
indeed. if this guy won, I shudder to think what his opponents were like. i would think any one of us on this DB would be more morally cohesive and more intellectually qualified to sit and think through the ramifications of proposed legislation. Not to mention we are full of ideas on how to MTWABP. This guy shows as much initiative as a bucketful of mud.
He evidently didn’t even do enough research to know he should decline this particular opportunity to interview.
The congressman seems to be treating it as a serious interview. The sad thing is, he doesn’t seem to realize how much he is embarrassing himself. He’s sitting there with that complacent/friendly smile between comments - as if being able to smile at people that way is really what being a congressman is all about. For him, perhaps it is…
I’m intrigued by the picture of him reading his campaign literature to make sure he keeps his campaign promises. It seems a little odd that he wouldn’t simply remember his campaign promises since supposedly these are issues he cares deeply about.
And of course the final segment is priceless, about him wanting the ten commandments in the courthouse, but then it transpires that he doesn’t actually know what they are. Hmmm…

Sad isn’t it, that campaign literature is the mechanism for accountability? Sounds like his staff relied on polls to tell him how to think about the issues.
As far as the ten commandments…an excellent example of beliefism, it think.
Although - this may indicate that people in his district are so Republican that they will vote for the Republican candidate no matter what he’s like and no matter who opposes him.
Which would make running against him a waste of time as well as money.
This Wikipedia entry is about Lynn Westmoreland, the Georgia Rep in this piece. It summarizes the primary and general elections in which he got his seat - it was pretty close in the primary, then he got more than 75% of the vote against his (female) Democratic opponent. It also closes with a summary of this interview with Stephen Colbert!
There’s no indication in this (admittedly limited) biography, or elsewhere on the web that I found, that he’s related to Gen. Westmoreland…

And he certainly likes the idea of the Ten Commandments, but….well, watch it and you’ll see!
