I expect you’ve noticed that Todd‘s sharp new design for CatE went up today!
We’re aware that a few things need fixing/adjusting. Todd hasn’t finished working on it yet.
Update: Todd has fixed the things we knew needed fixing. Let us know if you find anything that still isn’t working.

1I think it looks great. Something very appealing about the scene. Thanx Todd.

2I like it, well done ol bean!

3Now you have really set the bar high

4if you look real close you can see Helen sitting on the grassy knoll… and Jim in the distance keeping his head above water.
Good going Todd!

5Nice design for the site, Todd – thanks! I’d liked the prior photo, but this adds a new dimension – I like the foreground, but also the expanse of the ocean to the horizon in the distance.
(Oh, and the fossils in the exposed sides of the rock! ;) )

6Todd, it looks awesome – thanks for all the work you put into designing and setting it up!
Eliza, I liked the other photo but I love this one too. As it turns out I love pictures of the sea (which I don’t think Todd could have known) so I was delighted with his choice.
Lisa, you have very sharp eyes! ;-)

7well maybe I’ve had too many interpretive lit classes, but here’s what I see:
the large rock symbolizes the majority group, the small rock represents everyone else, and the gulf between is, well… the gulf between. We’re try to find ways to build bridges between the rocks here.

8Julie, that is exactly what i was thinking when i selected that image…oh, wait..it wasn’t really but it sounds good to me!

9Fantastic. I wish you would’ve done my seminary’s new look!

10Looks good. Three minor points:
1) Quotes are no longer as clear as they use to be. It may be better to indent them slightly more or perhaps to use a different font for them so they stand out more as quotes.
2) It may be better to have clearer separation between comments – more relevant where comments include quotes. Perhaps either abandon lines above and below quotes (and use different font instead) or use double lines between comments.
3) If you look at:
http://conversationattheedge.com/2006/09/11/should-churches-partner-with-atheists-to-mtwabp/#comment-1965
and the comment below it you will see the last line of my comment has become the first line of Paul’s comment. This may only be a conversion problem and perhaps won’t arise again with any new comments posted since the changeover.
Picture is great – where is it from? Looks familiar.

11Great comments JG – thanks for the details

12JG – good suggestions!
I fixed this merging of responses yesterday when I saw it – the problem was that one “/blockquote” didn’t have its backslash and brackets so didn’t act as a command to end the quotation function, so it persisted into the next post. If you ever see this, you can just post a message which starts with (or only contains) the appropriate “end that function” command (or whatever they’re called in blogland!) :)
Could we have a few emoticons back? I miss them :(

Rachel – I agree. Just a thought – it is not very easy to proof read comments before you submit them – I seem to frequently Block Quote more or less than I intend.
Would it be possible to have a preview button so you can see how your comment looks before you send it? Or at least a larger comment box?
Comment by: Helen
14JG I never thought to ask about whether that’s possible – I’d LOVE to have a preview button on here if it is. I’ll ask Todd.
Comment by: JG
15I have certainly seen and used them on other sites but can’t bring one to mind at the moment.
Comment by: Helen
16JG we’ll see what we can do…stay tuned…

17Todd, many thanks for the preview facility, this seems to work really well.
Now all we need is a spell checker and a filter to edit out anything unhelpful!!! I’m not sure we have the technology for that yet!
Comment by: Helen
18JG, a filter would be hard to program and we’d probably all have different opinions on how it should operate ;-)
Comment by: JG
19I know – I was saying it tongue in cheek!
And I am not seriously suggesting a spell checker either, so far as I am aware it is not a viable option – but given that I frequently misspell if there was any way one could be offered …..

20The preview is great, but I am sometimes running into problems with quotes I paste in from previous comments. For example:
I haven’t tested this enough to work out when this happens or in what cirumstances but flag it up in case there is a slight glitch that needs fixing.
It may be me!
Comment by: Helen
21Yes, I noticed that too, JG. It’s not you! I’ll tell Todd about it.
