1…I guess my main (and perhaps favorite) tradition during the … holiday season has generally been to feel and think in even more depressed and negative ways than I do the rest of the year. This year I have even more reason than ever to follow these lines. I wouldn’t say I observe this tradition for religious reasons … although I guess that my depressive negative attitudes are deeply entwined with my own experiences with religion.

2Benjamin, do you have any friends you can spend time with while your family is away?
I find that helps me be less depressed than I otherwise would be.
You raise a good point: a lot of people do find this time of year depressing: partly because of the weather and partly because of the ramifications of it being the ‘holiday season’.
