I remember being at the various Emergrent Conventions a couple of years ago… seas of Apple laptops. It was actually odd to see someone with a PC.
So, yeah… :)
As for me personally, the boy gets bigger and the toys just get more expensive.
Yeah I noticed this love of tech among the younger United Methodist Pastors…and it seems that a lot of UM Pastors seem to have a love of all things tech… and if anyone has ears or eyes and watches the media how could you not notice it. All this attention for something that is still awaiting approval from the FCC and not due until June, heh…. it is like the world just moved from the PS3 and Nintendo Wii to the iPhone. But alas…. I am just as guilty as them…I blogged too, but also picked up CES, heh.
it probably tells us that MACS are popular in the Emerging missional church - which i think is true
but its also true that a lot of us [esp. those of us on the mission field overseas] cant afford these toys - i am still waiting to buy my first ipod but i really cant justify it for the Kingdom.
Do you have to be tech savvy to be a pastor in an emergent church, or is it optional? ;-)
I had a brief flash along the lines of WWJD: would Jesus go PC or Mac? would He have an ipod? Surely he wouldn’t have been the first in line for an iphone…?
Actually, since Jesus was tempted every way as we are, according to the Bible (Hebrews 4) does that mean had he seen an iphone he would have thought “Wow - sweeettt!”
Unlike Andrew I could afford many of these tech gadgets, but like Andrew I cannot “justify it for the Kingdom.” I did buy an iPod, but I went for the bottom end Shuffle so I could have my music without spending a fortune. Two months later I won an iPod Video in a drawing at work. It’s a wonderful thing to have on that daily bus ride, but if I had to spend my own money on it, it wouldn’t happen.
Funny, back in November I blogged about the many, many Treo’s I saw at the Revolution Conference. I guess it’s going to soon be replaced by the latest and greatest.

6Eliza, like Andrew, there’s no way Jesus could have afforded one…
My husband’s comment was: “When is ‘ichurch’ going to be announced?”

Or is that going beyond temptation into sin?

9Well, I don’t know about “ichurch”, but here is a link to a page with a big long list of “cyber-churches”!
