Stupid church signs

Posted by Helen on: 04.12.2007 /

Jim sent me these ’stupid church signs’.

In these days of photoshop I can’t vouch for them being authentic. However they don’t look tampered with and I remember hearing Christians say some of these things.

If you want to see more I ran across a whole collection of them on Church Sign Generator (which ironically is a site where you can make your own realistic-looking church signs).

Hee, hee. I recognize #3. I think I mentioned here that that was a popular catchphrase I often heard from the pulpit.

The last one I just saw on a church in my neighborhood a month or two ago.

Having been on too many church committees, I think the fourth one is actually pretty good.

I’m not sure all of them are “stupid,” (esp. the committee one: it does make a point), but most of them are silly.

As far as the last one: having the hell scared out, that sounds harshly Calvinist. Could it be tongue-in-cheek?

    Check this one out:

    Poor Word Choice

When I first read it, I was nearly splitting my sides laughing so hard. I did remove the church name (that’s the only alteration I did).

Yes! Number 3 was one of my favourites! Usually said sternly in response to a bit of honest teenage questioning… lol

seekingsomething, I’ve heard no. 3 a number of times too - as a warning against straying outside the orthodoxy of the person who said it.
