Each year the Off The Map community (and our growing number of friends) gathers in Seattle. We’re so virtual that we need to meet face to face at least once a year just to make sure people like Helen, Pam, Esther, Al, Ken, Deb, Rose, Rich, Nancy, Bob, Peter, Brian and a host of others actually exist.
This year Off The Map Live (our permanent event name) presents…
Hear·Listen·Connect enter the powerful world of connecting
Our presenters, musicians and artists will teach, provoke and prod us toward the spiritual practice of dialog.
They’ll move us to protect the sacred relational space even more than beliefs or opinions
Connect the dots on your spiritual mental maps
Connect your private beliefs with your public ones
Connect with new ideas and idea makers
Hundreds of students from nearby campuses will join us this year
Other organizations/ministries are “bolting” their mini conferences onto Off The Map Live so they can share in the excitement
You will meet old and new friends AND old and new ideas.
Come and travel with us to new places in your spiritual thought life

(I’ll probably have to leave before the end, like last year, to get back for a concert my daughter will be in on the Saturday)
I’m very excited about this year’s theme - Hear·Listen·Connect - it seems so tied in to what we hope we are creating on our blogs.
As best I know I’m leading a workshop this year about ways Christians can improve their relationships with other people.
My favorite part last year was the people I met - some I’d ‘met’ online, others were completely new to me. I hope lots of you will go so I can meet you there!

I’ve looked at the speakers’ websites and am excited to hear*listen*connect with them. HaHa!
Brian always gets my wheels turning. The other speakers are new to me. I love the diversity of thought. Thanks, Jim.

I really like that
Maybe we will do “lead your own 30 minute workshop” and let anyone who wants to lead one write a short descriptor on some butcher paper somewhere and see what happens.

12 06/20/07 6:58 AM | Comment Link |Doreen, is that because Christian years last forever or because you haven’t been a Christian very long?
At first I thought it was the first reason, then I remembered the second :)

14 06/20/07 8:33 PM | Comment Link |Thanks Helen. I am looking forward to meeting you and everyone on the OTM blogs…isn’t everyone going?
The “lead your own workshop” sounds like “Open Space” technology. What great fun! I think it would be nice Jim if you would make space for that this year.

Elaine, I’d love to see as many bloggers there as possible. However, I realize it’s not easy to attend an out-of-town conference - that might not be doable for all our bloggers.

17 07/4/07 6:56 AM | Comment Link |I was in a meeting Monday where one of the participants was on the phone from California. Another meeting attender held up a stick with the CA person’s picture on it whenever that person spoke.
Maybe we could have stick picture representatives of those who can’t make it, LOL.
