Total Lunar Eclipse

lunar eclipseDid you see the total eclipse of the moon last night? It was awesome!

I usually miss things which happen in the sky at night: either it’s too late at night or cloudy or they’re not visible from where I live or I simply forget.

But last night my husband said there was going to be a lunar eclipse (otherwise I wouldn’t have known) at about 9 p.m. and it was a clear night and you could see the moon right from our house.

It looked like the moon turned from a full moon to a partial one as it got underway. But when it was almost total and total you could see the whole moon again, except not as bright as usual. When I looked through my camera I could see it was reddish all over.

I was so pleased I had the opportunity to see this!

(Edited to add: The Chicago Tribune has wonderful photos of the eclipse - much better than mine!)

It was too cloudy here in Tulsa. Poo! I really wanted to see it! Do you have more pics? That one is pretty cool.

We saw some of it…it was very cloudy here in eastern PA.

    But it was still cool.

My response from ~3 days ago somehow disappeared…not sure how or why!

My son and I got to see the lunar eclipse from a cable car in San Francisco last week, got to ooh and ahh at every intersection as we got a direct view of it, hovering near Coit Tower & changing from minute to minute.

I was struck by how little interest the other folks on the cable car seemed to show in the lunar eclipse. Guess it just goes to show, it takes all types!

Eliza, I’m glad you and your son got to see it - what a fun way to view it, from a cable car!

Evidently some people weren’t interested in the lunar eclipse although I can’t imagine why :)
