Sarah posted a comment on this blog recently. I noticed she linked to this site: Living Generously. Sarah is listed on the team page as taking care of the administration and operations of Living Generously.
This is a neat site which encourages people to think beyond what they want to the needs of others. You can set up a list of gifts for your birthday or wedding that you share with your family and friends. But instead of listing gifts you want to receive, you list people in need or projects you’d like them to donate to.

I thought the grandparents would flip, but they actually responded so well that he’s done it ever since. I wonder how much of our gift-giving is out of consumeristic pressures of measuring up. I like how Ben flipped this system, hopefully Living Generously will encouage more to do the same!

Craig your cousin Ben has great initiative! I’m glad your grandparents were more receptive than you expected to what Ben did.
