Continuing my train series: last week Joe mentioned being squashed onto a British train. It reminded me of this, although I’m fairly sure they haven’t gone to these extremes in the UK

    You can tell it’s not the London Underground because the guards would never “help” anyone onto a train. Other than that it looks just the same to me.

    Right - I can’t imagine British people putting up with that. It’s interesting that the Japanese do. I can’t imagine how hot and crowded it must be on those trains…yikes!

    Oh we’d complain about it but we still wedge ourselves into the tube. Not to that extent but still pretty sardine like.

    I remember it being rather hot and crowded twenty or so years ago when I worked in London one summer.
