I did German as well briefly. I’m ashamed to say that I barely remember any of it. English borrows so heavily from so many sources that it’s hardly surprising that our spellings are so crazy. Maybe Latin would be easier…

That’s why you can spell “fish” as ghoti, at least according to George Bernard Shaw. Gh as in enough, o as in women and ti as in nation.
Maybe I’ll take up German.

2Jason, is German spelling more consistent than English? (Probably since most languages are)
