I was pleased to read this: Bob Jones Univ. apologizes for racist policies
Bob Jones University has apologized for racist policies including a one-time ban on interracial dating that wasn’t lifted until nine years ago and its unwillingness to admit black students until 1971.
The private fundamentalist Christian school that was founded in 1927 said its rules on race were shaped by culture instead of the Bible, according to a statement posted Thursday on the university’s Web site.
Here’s the statement on Bob Jones University’s site

1Sigh. Now if they would just realize that some enormous percentage of the rest of their rules and beliefs and practices are in the same category. =)

2Yes, here’s hoping this happens in relation to homosexuality in the not too distant future.

3Oh Helen, if I ever grow up I hope I can be half as gracious as you. I think their “apology” is just so much BS. They didn’t lift the dating ban until George W. campaigned there in 2000 and it put the big spotlight on them.
This just means that God told Mr. Jones that blacks are okay, just like God gave that message to the LDS church at some point.
BTW, did you hear that BYU modified its honor code regarding homosexuality so that now pro-gay, gay friendly, having gay feelings, or a gay orientation are no longer grounds for dismissal?
